BITING BABY

🌷How? How? How. Evie turned eleven months old this week and it Does. Not. Feel. Real. Infertility felt (feels) like an eternity. Every week felt like 6 months, and every year felt like a decade as we fought to get Evie. Don’t even get me started on waiting for the pregnancy blood test NINE days after a transfer. But these past 11 months have flown by so fast, I’m convinced it’s still 2024.

As our Peach crawl arounds her home (castle), Darla has become more skeptical of this creature, now at eye level. We need to chat with a professional that can help Darla realize how much she really loves Evie. The fight for love and attention is a daily battle between the two. To Evie’s credit, she finds it hilarious that Darla isn’t her biggest fan, squealing with delight every time Darla growls. I’m confident Evelyn will push herself on Darla until Darla rolls over and accepts that her sister is her best friend.

Not only have I been playing referee between my girls, but I have also been doing on my own this week, as Phil was traveling for work. Thanks to my parents help in the morning and girlfriends visiting in the evening to play with Evie and provide me some adult interaction after bedtime, Evie, Darla, and I have had the best girls’ week. As Evelyn’s bottles get smaller and she continues to try more new food, our dinners have become more chaotic (messy) and Darla has been enjoying every spill of peanut butter, turkey, eggs, cauliflower humus…. Now I understand why our veterinarian told us to preemptively put Darla on a diet BEFORE Evelyn started solid foods!

A girls’ week could not end without a tinge of drama. My sweet, cute, babbling, bubble-and-kiss-blowing baby bit a friend at school. SMH. I was a biter, and I was hoping Evelyn would forego this disruptive behavior. Alas, her 8 teeth have made their mark.🌷
