thankful thanksgiving
🌷This was Evie’s second Thanksgiving, but it felt like her first. We asked for an invitation to my girlfriend’s (Rachel’s) Thanksgiving, as we had no definite plans. More importantly, I’ve been to Rachel’s celebration in the past, and it is full of tons of people, lots of love, amazing food, and most importantly, lots of kiddos for Evie to be around.
My fondest memories of the holidays growing up, was spending time with my cousins that I rarely saw at other points during the year. Evie only has 1 cousin - our nephew, Miller - and he is in Tennessee. I can’t help but be sad for little Evie when I think of her not being around kids at the holidays.
So, alas, I have taken the advice of my therapist, and am advocating for what I know is in my daughter’s best interest. She deserves to be around lots of people, a noisy, fun-filled, chaotic environment with lots of kids running around and entertaining her.
The celebration was perfection. I’ve spent time with Rachel’s family before, and they are so open and welcoming. I knew Phil would love them too. (He did.) I also knew my goddaughter would take Evie under her 7-year old wing, and protect her from the rambunctious littles. Eleanor did not disappoint.
Evie won’t remember her first two Thanksgivings, but I certainly will. Her first, she was only 5 days old. Her second, I got to watch her interact with her “chosen cousins.”
To top it off, Evie and I celebrated Black Friday by meeting up with my cousin and her son (3 months older than Evie) to walk around the Galleria. A little girlchat, shopping, and babies bodies was the perfect end to the holiday weekend.🌷
