BAPTISED BABY
🌷It took us nearly 17 months, but Evie was finally baptized (4/12). Phil and I always planned on baptizing our girl, but we were definitely late to this party. The day was peaceful - well, not really. Evie and Phil spent most of Mass in the church’s basement, and pretty much melted down during the baptism ceremony. Although, girlfriend didn’t hate the oil on her chest or the water in her hair. I’m also certain Phil threw her tights away, so we had a bare-legged baby at church (which felt slightly inappropriate.) Afterwards, Evie’s godparents and their children went to my parents’ farm to feed the animals and spend time together. Eventually, we all parted ways. Evie stayed with her grandparents, and Phil and I took long naps.
The rest of the week was somewhat challenging for the Day family. Evie has been waking up well before 6 AM, and this has put me in a funk (which I have crawled out of now), and made Phil and I question whether we should bring the coffeepot to the basement (thinking perhaps it wakes Evie up.)
I was able to attend a women in leadership conference that really got me thinking about how I want to structure my career, and Phil seems to be on a true path to promotion, which we are all excited/nervous/anxious about.
These weeks truly fly by. Evie is thriving in her toddler room, although she is still a little apprehensive about the new kiddos. My heart melts when she puts her head on my chest right when we walk in (the only moment my baby shows a shy side.) Seeing the other kids share their food with her and hug on her, I could not be more proud of our perfect little peach.
And on a wholly other note, Heather will be here Tuesday for her medical workup. I think I’m a little guarded, but also at peace with this process. I also feel ready to give Evie a sibling.🌷
